Hansons Brooks Way

I recently read the book, Running with the Hansons by Sage Cannady-a member of the inspirational team. It is a great account of life as a post collegiate runner accepted to train with the Hansons. I want to recommend this book and this training program to marathoners. The program is all about high mileage at Marathon race pace. The longest runs hit 16 -18 miles, and there isnt much of a taper. You learn to run at marathon race pace, so that naturallly you become faster. My milage today included a 4 mile morning run tempo run and core work followed by a midday 6 mile tempo run also followed by core work. Each day has 2 runs to optimize milage and make running on tired legs easier. Morning run: 4 miles 28:50; Midday run: 6 miles 45:10-both outdoor; 60 degrees; 84 degrees Next race: Greer Earthday 1/2 Marathon- April 21, 2012
